Safe Sport
Canoe Kayak Canada SAFE SPORT has a fundamental obligation and responsibility to protect the health and well-being of the organization, its members and its participants. CKC takes any situation involving misconduct very seriously. CKC and its Members (defined as Divisions, Provincial/Territorial Sport Organizations, Discipline-Specific Provincial/Territorial Organizations, and Clubs) are collectively committed to enacting and enforcing strong, clear, and consistent policies and processes for addressing misconduc
Board Members & Volunteers
Board Members must provide a Criminal Record Check (CRC) every five years for those 19 years or older.
Board Members must complete the CAC Safe Sport Training and/or Respect in Sport - Activity Leaders Training.
Volunteers must go through the Safe Sport Screening Process in Appendix A to determine the requirements for the position they are holding. As a club please ensure you have on file the Application Form Appendix B and/or Screening Disclosure Form Appendix C.
Coach & Instructor
Criminal Record Checks
All coaches and instructors must provide a Criminal Record Check (CRC) every five years for those 19 years and older.
NCCP Certification
Coaches/instructors must be certified under the National Coaching Certification Program where programming is available.
Code of Conduct
Adherence to the Safe Sport approved GERCKC Code of Conduct
Safe Sport or Respect In Sport
There are two options for training. CAC Safe Sport Training and/or Respect in Sport - Activity Leaders Training for level 2 and 3 risk levels, and the recommended completion of this training for level 1 risk levels.
Making Ethical Decisions
Coaches and Instructors are also required to complete Making Ethical Decisions.
Officials / Referee

Must pass certain screening requirements depending on the position sought, as outlined in the Screening Policy, and that the Screening Committee will determine my eligibility to volunteer or work in the position.
Safe Sport and Screening
EVERYBODY (board members, coaches, officials, & volunteers):
1. Criminal Record Check: Every five years for 19 years or older.
2. Complete a Safe Sport Course (you will get an NCCP code and a Respect in Sport code):

Have copies ready to upload of:
1- Reference letter to upload - one if new person, two if senior coach
2- NCCP Code and Respect in Sport code - this is given at completion of SafeSport course (for everyone) and Making Ethical Decisions course (for coaches)
